Review - Star Wars Imperial Assault - Boba Fett

"He's no good to me dead"

The man himself, another great sculpt from Fantasy Flight. Cant wait to get him painted up to take on the Rebels.

Here we have Bobas Deployment card and its safe to say he is a bit of a powerhouse. Coming in at 13 points and affiliated with Scum and Villainy. He automatically gets a defense and surge cancel, so you are going to have to pile on the damage to really start hurting him. Mobile means that he ignores the movement restriction of terrain, very helpful for getting to objectives. Surges are Pierce and Weaken, Weaken being the stronger of the two. This is a new status affect which i will cover below.
Battle Presence will make opponents think twice before moving away from Boba as they will automatically take damage, though if they have triggered this once they everyone else is free to move. Battle Discipline is where Boba really shines especially when you combine it with Mandalorian Tactics, also described below. Battle Discipline gives you the flexibility of being able to either do more damage or heal yourself whilst giving you the extra accuracy for the longer ranged shots. With a Blue, Green and Yellow die i don't think that should be a problem anyway. Standard Black Defense die to reflect that fact that he is wearing his armor. Twelve health and being able to heal himself with Battle Discipline means Boba isnt getting knocked out of the fight anytime soon and with a speed of Six he can easily maneuver around the board to get into a better position.

Explosive Armaments is a new type of card, a Skirmish Upgrade card. These can be used to augment how existing cards can work. For example you could add this to a Trandoshan Hunter, Probe Droid or even IG-88 and start piling on the Blast Damage with them.

Weakened - This is a new status effect, making you less powerful in offense and defense [one less surge and one less surge cancel]. The main thing that is different about this status affect is that you cannot spend one of your actions to get rid of it. It stays with you till the next round no matter what.

Capture the Weary - This can be used by any Hunter so once again a Trandoshan or IG-88 can now Weaken figures or you could combo it with Boba weakening the target first and then use this to cause extra damage.

Mandalorian Tactics - This is restricted to Boba and costing two actions. This card is what makes Bobas Battle Discipline so powerful. You perform two attacks, each of which get an automatic Surge. So you automatically get extra damage or healing capabilities before you have even rolled. Combining the extra damage with weaken for example would make them even easier to kill. Or if you are low on health you could spend a Surge on each attack to Recover up to Four health.

Jump Jets - This card can be used by any Small figure [the idea of a Imperial Officer or Tuskan Raider using a jetpack is pretty funny to me]. This allows the user to jump to an empty location with Five spaces of where they are. Allowing you to get behind people or onto the flanks, or get away or towards and objective.

In this Villian pack you also get the Soldiers For Hire agenda deck to use in the campaign.

By Any Means Necessary - This allows a Scum unit to do an extra attack before taking four damage. I would say that this is either best used on something that only has a one or two health left to do one last bit of damage or used on Boba who can take the damage then heal himself .

No Disintegrations - This card allows you to to sacrifice some of your hits to increase your threat level and let you get some reinforcements onto the board. You could either do this with your smaller units or some of your damage from your hero's.

Predator and Prey - This allows you to play the side mission that gives you access to Boba Fett for the rest of the campaign.

Two Skirmish missions are also included in the box.

Data Run - This is a grab an objective and get to a score zone style mission. Bobas mobility will make him great for this kind of mission.

Targeting Computers - This is focused on moving a targeting signal into the right position to start doing damage if you hold a weapons console. Seems like maneuvering is key to get to the console and out of the way from the targeting signal.

Conclusion
Such a large amount of content for a small price [£7.95], giving the Scum a boost in heroes that they have available to them and other cards to help augment what they have already.
