Bolt Action - American Beachhead Defense

Tonight's game was a Japanese assault of a fairly disrupted American beach landing.
Tanks didn't make it shore thankfully for the Japanese who had free reign to push up their "armour" and give fire support to the infantry.
Unfortunately American air support was not on hand to drop bombs on foe or friend this game though the Japanese had a warplane in the skies to strafe the beleaguered defenders.

The deployment, The Americans hunkered down in the beachhead, ready to receive the Japanese.

Forward positions are set up ahead of the main lines to slow the Japanese down.

American sniper on over-watch with a mortar spotter relaying targets back to its team.
The sniper however only managed to put two pins on two different squads before being taken out by howitzer fire.

The Japanese forces push forward as their air support shows up and showers the forward position with mmg fire and its bombs misses its target. The Americans trying to pile machine gun fire and mortars into the attackers to stall their advance.

The Japanese infantry keep on pushing forward.
Firing off smoke from knee mortars to cover their approach though they fail to land in the right place.

The smokes slowly drifts over, blocking line of sight for some of the supporting American units.

The Japanese break the first of the forward position with constant mortar fire and fire coming from the advancing veteran infantry.

The Japanese fighter manages to catch a squad out in the open, strafing them and inflicting several casualties. Whilst the attack is all over the American frontline.

The game ended with a Banzai charge into the second forward position, heavy casualties inflicted on both sides but the Japanese managed to take the position just as the sun goes down and the conflict ends.
